Growing Pains (2023)
'Growing Pains' is a single from the spoken word album THE GOOD GIRLS LOST HEAVEN, written by Mixxed Rose. The album delves into the journey of a young woman navigating the complexities of identity and self-discovery, questioning what it truly means to be a 'good' or 'bad' person.
inhale/exhale, (2021)
A capsule collection created in response to uprisings in Cleveland and beyond. The designs, conceptualized by Shooting Without Bullets’s Artist Collective. These artists participated as both makers and models. Designed by Carly Heywood, Created in Partnership with Xhibiton.
Cleveland Walls Mural Festival (2021)
This project was a collaboration with fellow artist Derek Walker for the Cleveland Walls Mural Festival, as part of Shooting Without Bullets' gallery lounge activation, We Made It. The concept centers around the weaponization and criminalization of Black skin, a theme that inspired the following poem:
I never chose to become a weapon
You loaded bullets into my skin
Before you could shoot them into my skin
Now every other skin like mine is a perfect fit description
Just so you can strip them of their true skin
See my skin
And see me beyond my skin
For I am not a criminal
Nor a description
I am a human
With a little more hue in my man.
This piece reflects the ongoing struggle for Black humanity and dignity in a world quick to mischaracterize and condemn.
